Willo raises £3m from Peter Bauer to expand its recruitment verification platform in North America.
The funding follows a series of investments from Mimecast co-founder Peter Bauer to support international growth and combat AI-generated application fraud.
Glasgow-based recruitment technology platform providing structured video and audio interviews to help employers screen candidates.
Willo has secured £3m in fresh funding from Mimecast co-founder Peter Bauer, marking its largest single raise to date and lifting its total backing past £5.9m. The capital will support the Glasgow-based recruitment technology platform as it expands its operations in North America and accelerates the rollout of its newly launched Verified Profiles feature.
The investment arrives as employers encounter a surge in fraudulent and AI-generated job applications, compounding the difficulty of verifying candidate credentials. Willo's technology automates identity, education, and employment checks by drawing data from third-party sources to restore reliability to the hiring process.
Over the past 18 months, Bauer has committed more than £3.7m to the business and will maintain a strategic advisory role as the company scales its footprint in the United States.
From the founder
"Employers tell us they are inundated with AI-generated CVs that are hard to verify and review. That’s making it increasingly difficult for genuine, qualified candidates to stand out"
