WhiteHat raises £12.8m Series A funding led by Index Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures to accelerate growth

The Series A round was led by Index Ventures with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures.
WhiteHat operates a technology platform that connects ambitious talent with employers through professional apprenticeships. The company provides applied learning programmes as an alternative to traditional higher education.
WhiteHat has secured a £12.8m Series A investment to accelerate its growth across the United Kingdom and expand its training programmes. The funding round was led by Index Ventures, with additional participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures.
The company matches non-graduate talent with roles at prominent employers including BP, Facebook, and Salesforce. The newly secured capital will allow the firm to scale its operations and open its apprenticeship initiatives to a broader cohort of businesses seeking to address skills shortages.
Founded in 2016, the London-based startup delivers applied learning through expert coaching and partnerships with educational providers. The fresh financing will support the company as it builds out its alternative pathway to university education.
From the founder
"Today, if you want a great career the assumption is you go to university, but spiralling costs of higher education, lack of diversity in leadership positions, and a major global skills gap in digital and tech are all evidence that this model isn’t working,"

Euan Blair
Co-founder and CEO at WhiteHat
Investor perspective
"Every year hundreds of thousands of talented, ambitious and driven young people enter the workforce, but because they don’t have a university degree, they are often overlooked by top employers. WhiteHat is making sure that doesn’t happen,"
