NEC X has backed the UK startup to advance its smart cane navigation technology.

£201KSeed

WeWALK builds assistive mobility technology for blind and visually impaired people. Its flagship smart cane uses ultrasound and artificial intelligence to detect obstacles and provide audio feedback.

WeWALK has secured £201k in a seed follow on funding round from venture studio NEC X. The investment will enable the startup to integrate computer vision technology from NEC Laboratories America into its next generation of mobility devices.

The financing follows a previous pre series A round led by Nesta Impact Investments. WeWALK was awarded the NEC X Prize at the 2023 NEC Innovation Challenge, subsequently joining the Elev X Venture Studio Programme.
