Wayland Additive is a West Yorkshire based manufacturing firm specialising in electron beam 3D printing systems for industrial clients. The company develops advanced machines designed to produce high precision metal components for sectors such as aerospace and medical industries.

Wayland Additive has secured £3m in Series A funding to advance its electron beam 3D printing technology. The round was led by Longwall Ventures and the Angel CoFund, with backing from several angel investors.

The capital will support the company as it moves its metal additive manufacturing systems from advanced prototypes to commercial products. Wayland plans to use the financing to prepare for initial machine shipments.

The funding builds on intellectual property acquired from Reliance Precision and follows years of development in scanning electron microscopy. Wayland aims to serve industrial sectors requiring high precision components.

From the founder

"Additive Manufacturing is currently one of the fastest growing, disruptive technology spaces, providing manufacturers with the ability to produce high value components that would have been impossible even ten years ago. We are excited to be developing our new product in such a high-potential market, and look forward to driving its rapid growth as we prepare to launch in the coming years."
