Wave Photonics raises £4.5m in a seed round led by UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund and Cambridge Enterprise Ventures to commercialise its chip design technology.
The seed financing was co-led by UKI2S and Cambridge Enterprise Ventures to support the commercial deployment of photonic chip designs.
Wave Photonics is a Cambridge based deep tech start up that develops on chip photonics designs for quantum technologies, sensors, and datacentre applications. The company builds computational design technology to streamline the production of integrated circuits for light.
Wave Photonics has secured £4.5m in a seed funding round to transition its technology from a research manufacturing line to a commercial foundry. The financing was led by the UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund and Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, with participation from Redstone, QAI Ventures, Kyra Ventures, and Deep Tech Labs. Additional non-dilutive support came via EIC and Innovate UK grants, bringing the firm total funding to £5.4m.
Founded in 2021 by Cambridge PhDs and industry specialists, the start up focuses on lowering the barriers and costs associated with bringing photonic integrated circuits to mass production. The new capital will be directed towards advancing solutions for frontier sectors including quantum computing and biosensing.
