Warden AI secures £1.1m from Onfido founders and Playfair to expand AI auditing tools
The funding round was led by the founders of Onfido and will support geographic expansion and product development.
Warden AI provides an auditing platform that helps vendors and enterprises evaluate and certify human resources technology for compliance and fairness. The software addresses regulatory pressures by monitoring algorithmic bias in hiring tools.
Warden AI has secured £1.1m in funding led by the founders of Onfido, alongside backing from Playfair. The capital will be used to accelerate product development and support the company's expansion into new geographic markets.
The investment arrives as the human resources sector faces heightened scrutiny regarding algorithmic bias, amplified by the Mobley v. Workday lawsuit. Warden AI provides independent oversight to help organisations comply with emerging regulations such as the EU AI Act.
Leading platforms including Greenhouse, Sense, and Beamery already utilise the software to verify automated hiring systems. Management notes that the fresh injection of capital will help meet accelerating market demand for responsible artificial intelligence tools.
From the founder
"The Workday case is a wake-up call and highlights why Warden AI exists, to bring independent auditing and oversight to AI development and use in HR. We built the platform to open up the black box of AI systems, which in turn builds trust in AI, increases adoption, gives organizations the evidence to deploy and defend AI systems, and protects the people they impact. Ensuring AI use is a win-win for all"

Investor perspective
"AI is becoming central to high-volume talent decisions like hiring. But without proper oversight, it can entrench bias and expose companies to serious consequences. Warden solves this by offering robust, independent auditing. Jeff and Eduard bring the rare combination of regulatory depth and product execution needed to lead this category."
