WalkSafe operates a personal safety application that integrates police crime data to help users navigate urban areas securely. The platform provides tools for monitoring local crime hotspots and sharing live locations with trusted contacts.

London-based personal safety app WalkSafe has secured £300k in a seed funding round led by Fearless Adventures. The capital and accompanying support will assist the company in scaling its user base as it prepares to launch a new iteration of its application.

Founded by Emma Kay, the platform has experienced a surge in downloads following high-profile crimes. The application utilises police crime statistics to display local crime hotspots, alongside alert tools designed to help users signal distress to contacts.

Lead investor Fearless Adventures intends to provide marketing campaigns, talent sourcing, and business intelligence to drive user acquisition. The backing will help the team expand its footprint and develop its safety tools further.

From the founder

"I call WalkSafe the ‘app that shouldn’t have to exist’ as no woman should have to live in fear of violence or the threat of it when they walk from A to B. But, like countless women, I’ve experienced being groped, flashed at and harassed with no provocation. Thankfully, I have been able to turn that fear and danger into something useful. So I’m proud that our technology empowers women, and has quickly become the most popular trusted safety app. To help more women live without this fear, who better to partner with than Fearless? With their best-in-class support, we’ll build a global safety brand that harnesses technology to help save lives. The entrepreneurial team shares our strong values, and with multiple successes under their belt, are the best partner to help us achieve our ambitious goals."
