Tutor House secures £2m from Fuel Ventures to fund international expansion and a new London school
Fuel Ventures has backed the online tutoring platform in a £2m seed round.
Tutor House is an online tutoring platform connecting families with educators for in person and remote lessons. Run by education professionals, the agency covers primary, secondary and university subjects.
Tutor House has secured £2m in seed funding from Fuel Ventures to support its international expansion plans and the establishment of a dedicated London school for exam retake students.
Founded in 2012 by former teacher Alex Dyer, the platform connects families with vetted tutors for in-person and remote learning across multiple academic levels. The business has established itself as a leading tutoring agency in the UK.
Fuel Ventures led the investment round, providing both capital and commercial expertise to help scale the business. The newly acquired funds will enable the company to take its educational model into overseas markets.
From the founder
"Our company is run by education specialists and tutors, with years of experience. We’re on a mission to change the way students and parents find trusted and qualified tutors. We want to return autonomy to tutors, tutees, and families, to make tutoring affordable for, and accessible to, the people that need it the most. That’s not a big ask, and we’re well on our way to making that happen."

Investor perspective
"This is an exciting time for Fuel Ventures and its start-ups, and Tutor House is a great business that has already achieved an impressive level of growth since 2012. They are the UK’s market leader and are making plans for further expansion into countries outside of the UK, following this investment."
