Trench Networks secures £500k from Mercia and the North East Venture Fund to expand its team and scale operations.
The Northumberland connectivity provider has secured its fourth injection of capital from the North East Venture Fund, managed by Mercia.
Trench Networks develops emergency wi-fi technology that aggregates mobile network connections to provide reliable internet access to remote locations and sites lacking traditional infrastructure.
Trench Networks has secured £500k in seed follow on investment from the North East Venture Fund, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Mercia. The company will direct the capital towards expanding its team and meeting rising demand for its connectivity hardware. This transaction marks the fourth time the regional fund has backed the business, lifting its total external funding to £1m. Based in Northumberland, Trench Networks supplies portable internet units to clients across the construction sector and beyond.
Investor perspective
"Trench Networks has made great progress since our first investment two years ago. Its award-winning technology and rapid deployment times have enabled it to build a strong track record in the construction industry. As businesses of all types become increasingly dependent on internet connections, this latest funding will allow it to take advantage of opportunities in other sectors."
