Transdermal Diagnostics secures £1.1m in pre-seed funding led by QUBIS Innovation Fund to advance needle-free glucose monitoring
The pre-seed round was led by QUBIS Innovation Fund and will support clinical trial preparations and engineering hires.
Transdermal Diagnostics is a Bristol-based medical technology spin-out developing a needle-free platform for continuous blood sugar monitoring. The firm uses miniaturised biosensors on wearable patches to track health biomarkers without puncturing the skin.
Transdermal Diagnostics has secured £1.1m in pre-seed funding to advance its needle-free blood sugar monitoring technology for diabetes patients. The financing round was led by the QUBIS Innovation Fund, with participation from Pioneer Group, Immetric, Bristol Private Equity Club, Science Angel Syndicate, and Innovate UK. The capital will be directed towards bolstering the engineering division and preparing for upcoming clinical trials.
The Bristol spin-out is building a wearable smart patch that samples skin fluid non-invasively to track glucose levels. Existing commercial monitors often rely on needles and cause discomfort, whereas this approach seeks to improve disease management for people with diabetes. The fresh investment provides the firm with the financial backing needed to progress towards commercialisation and expand its applications into broader wellness markets.
