Cambridge-based medical technology company developing handheld diagnostic tools for respiratory conditions.
TidalSense has raised $19m in a new funding round led by Cross-Border Impact Ventures, with participation from returning backers BGF, Airstream Capital, and Foresight Group. The capital will be deployed to support commercial rollout within the NHS, expand operations into the US market, and advance the development of an asthma diagnostic platform.
The Cambridge-based company produces N-Tidal Diagnose, a handheld device designed to replace traditional spirometry testing by identifying chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from normal breathing patterns in under five minutes. The latest investment brings the firm's total funding to $40m, following previous support from various public sector grants.
The fresh capital will also enable TidalSense to grow its commercial and operations teams as demand for faster respiratory diagnostics increases across primary care networks.
From the founder
"We’re still diagnosing in the twenty-first century with a test invented in the 1800s, and one that needs specialist equipment and training most of the world doesn’t have access to. Lower-income and minority communities pay the price for that first. That’s the gap we want to close at TidalSense, and the NHS is the first place we’re doing it,"
