Thymia develops video game-based software designed to assess and track depression objectively using neuropsychology, linguistics, and machine learning.

London based healthtech startup thymia has raised $2.7m in a seed funding round led by Kodori Ventures. The capital will be deployed to secure medical device approval for clinical use, enhance the underlying artificial intelligence infrastructure, and develop diagnostic capabilities for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Additional participants in the financing include Entrepreneur First, Syndicate Room Access, Calm/Storm, and Form Ventures, alongside angel investors Amanda M Cardinale and Nadav Rosenberg. The company also offered a community fundraising vehicle via Crowdcube. This latest injection brings the total capital secured by the firm to $3.5m.

thymia applies video game mechanics combined with neuropsychology, linguistics, and machine learning to evaluate cognitive conditions such as depression and anxiety. The platform analyses behavioural, voice, and video data to assist clinicians in tracking symptom progression and differentiating between overlapping disorders.

From the founder

"Our technology is revolutionary. By combining cutting edge neuroscience and ethical, explainable AI, we have built a tool that can help people get an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan in place faster than ever before. It’s all about arming clinicians with the very best tools so that they can do the very best by their patients. We’re so grateful for the support our investors have shown us so far; and we look forward to this next stage of our journey as we look to optimise and expand our technology and get it in the hands of the people who need it most."
