Lincoln-based Tended has developed a wearable geospatial safety solution that alerts rail workers when they leave designated safe zones.

Safety technology startup Tended has secured £2.4m in Series A funding to support its ongoing growth and develop its safety culture solution. The investment round was led by Blackfinch Ventures, with additional participation from Basinghall Partners, UKRI, and several industry angels.

The fresh capital will be directed towards expanding the firm's operations and advancing research and development for its wearable devices and behavioural psychology platform. Tended already serves high-profile industrial clients including Siemens, Rolls-Royce, and Network Rail.

This latest injection brings Tended's total raised to date to £4.4m.

From the founder

"Every company has its own unique set of safety challenges. Interventions such as training and processes only go so far to improve safety. We’re helping companies uncover and understand the underlying influences of unsafe actions and provide the resources to help them change those behaviours."
