TAUR designs and manufactures premium electric scooters focused on ownership, safety and durability. Based in London, the company produces portable, road-grade vehicles equipped with distinctive stability and lighting features.

London electric scooter manufacturer TAUR has secured £1.3m in seed funding from San Francisco-based Trucks VC. The capital will support the company as it prepares for its upcoming product launch in California, following regulatory hurdles for private e-scooters in the UK.

Founded in 2019 by Carson Brown and Richard Adey, TAUR focuses on the private ownership market rather than rental fleets. The company recently won a GOOD DESIGN Award for its portable, road-grade scooter featuring a twin-ski stance and projection lighting.

Trucks VC general partner Reilly Brennan participated in the round, noting the strong shift towards personal micromobility and praising TAUR's execution in the urban transport sector.

From the founder

"Lack of proper regulation is dangerous for the UK public and frustrating for us. However, we've had incredible market traction in the US and we're excited to be launching in Los Angeles."

Investor perspective

"The popularity of shared micromobility has proven that light-electric vehicles are a practical solution for urban travel. Consumers have woken up to the utility of e-scooters – and there's a growing trend of people buying their own."
