Supercritical has secured £2m in pre-seed funding to accelerate its climate software platform ahead of COP26. The round was led by LocalGlobe, with participation from a group of prominent angel investors. The capital will be deployed to scale operations and expand its customer base among technology companies.
Founded in London, the company focuses exclusively on carbon removal offsets rather than traditional avoidance schemes. Its marketplace aggregates demand for emerging technologies such as direct air capture and enhanced weathering to help them scale.
From the founder
"Most businesses understand that the only way to prevent a climate emergency involves meaningful action from the private sector. The problem today is not a lack of commitment, but a lack of trusted resources in an industry full of complexity, jargon and greenwashing."

Investor perspective
"Supercritical is providing a service that is as timely as it is essential. With COP26 approaching, the question of how businesses can meaningfully address their climate impact is a critical CEO issue."
