Subdial secures investment from Stuart Hennell and Active Partners
Watch industry veteran Stuart Hennell joins private equity backer Active Partners in funding the watch trading platform.
Subdial operates a digital marketplace and platform for pre-owned watch collectors, combining data tools with direct trading. The company also produces industry benchmarks such as the Bloomberg Subdial Watch Index.
Subdial has secured a substantial minority investment from watch industry figure Stuart Hennell alongside existing backer Active Partners. Hennell, who previously co-founded WatchFinder, joins the business as both an investor and advisor.
The capital will support the ongoing development of the company trading platform and the expansion of its collector network. Subdial has experienced strong growth recently, with its annualised run rate reaching approximately thirty million pounds.
The transaction follows a period of heightened activity in the secondary watch market, with Subdial increasing its weekly watch drops significantly over the past three years. The firm also plans to open a physical clubhouse in central London early next year.
From the founder
"WatchFinder created the preowned market as we know it, so we’re thrilled to have Stuart on board as we go a step further in creating the next generation trading platform. Having someone who’s built a successful business in this market will be invaluable as we continue to scale our operations."
