Stakester operates a competition marketplace that allows gamers and sports enthusiasts to monetise their skills. The platform enables users to raise the stakes on their gaming and sporting sessions.

Stakester has secured £2m in seed funding led by RTP Global, with additional backing from angel investors Jens Lapinski and Chris Adelsbach. Alexander Pavlov from RTP Global will join the company board as part of the transaction.

The capital will be deployed to expand the platform's community of gaming and sports enthusiasts. The funding arrives as the firm looks to capitalise on the expanding esports market and growing demand from players seeking to monetise their competitive skills.

The business brings together industry veterans from organisations such as Rockstar Games, Humble Bundle and Zynga. Stakester currently operates in the UK, Singapore and a number of US states, having previously established partnerships with the esports league ESL.
