Speckle secures £4.5m seed funding led by Frontline Ventures and Matrix Partners to expand 3D design collaboration
The seed round was co-led by Frontline Ventures and Matrix Partners with participation from Foundamental.
Speckle provides a centralized data platform for the architecture, engineering, and construction sector to streamline collaboration and project delivery. The business is based in London.
London based Speckle has secured £4.5m in a seed financing round led jointly by Frontline Ventures and Matrix Partners. The capital will support the company as it scales its open source community platform, expands into new sectors like gaming and product design, and recruits across engineering, product, and community roles. Existing backer Foundamental also participated alongside several angel investors.
The company provides an interoperable platform designed to streamline the exchange of large 3D data sets across software silos. By replacing restrictive file formats with object graph storage, Speckle aims to remove friction from collaborative workflows in architecture, engineering, and construction.
Investor perspective
"Software is finally eating the world of atoms and Speckle is at the forefront of bringing the power of code to the physical world. Dimitrie and Matteo are building the tools that will design the buildings, infrastructure and machinery of the modern world."
