SpAItial raises £9.6m seed round led by Earlybird Venture Capital to develop spatial foundation models

The out of stealth startup secured backing from Earlybird and Speedinvest to accelerate its three dimensional artificial intelligence prototypes.
SpAItial develops spatial foundation models designed to understand and generate three dimensional environments. The startup focuses on physics consistent artificial intelligence that bridges virtual and physical spaces.
SpAItial has emerged from stealth mode with a seed investment of £9.6m led by Earlybird Venture Capital. The round also drew participation from Speedinvest and a group of angel investors.
The fresh capital will be directed towards scaling the development of the company's inaugural spatial foundation model and expanding the technical team. Management plans to transition early prototypes into scalable infrastructure to support upcoming commercial pilots in robotics, entertainment, and digital twinning.
The startup brings together researchers and industry veterans to tackle generation challenges in three dimensional artificial intelligence. Its technology operates directly on structural data rather than pixels to deliver improved spatial accuracy.
From the founder
"Current AI models generate images pixel by pixel — great for snapshots, but not for immersive, coherent worlds. At SpAItial, we’re building AI that’s grounded in space and time from the start. Our spatial foundation models are a game changer for any application that depends on 3D understanding."
Matthias Niessner
Co-Founder and Professor at TU Munich at SpAItial
Investor perspective
"We couldn’t be more excited to back SpAItial’s team of world-class technologists. While text, image, and video have seen massive generative AI progress, 3D remains stuck in the pre-AI era. SpAItial’s unique depth in both academic research and real-world product development positions them to bring spatial intelligence into reality."
