SOC.OS secures £2m in seed funding from Hoxton Ventures and Speedinvest to launch as an independent business.
The cyber security venture has raised £2m from Hoxton Ventures and Speedinvest to support its spin-out and commercial growth.
SOC.OS is a cyber security business that originates from BAE Systems Applied Intelligence. It provides automated alert triage and prioritisation software for resource-constrained internal security teams.
Cyber security spin-out SOC.OS has secured £2m in seed funding to launch as an independent business and scale its operations. The capital was provided by Hoxton Ventures and Speedinvest. The technology was originally incubated within BAE Systems Applied Intelligence and participated in the CyLon accelerator programme.
The freshly funded company aims to support stretched IT departments by continuously analysing and prioritising security alerts. Early adopters of the platform include the UK Atomic Energy Authority and The University of Sussex. Dave Mareels leads the newly independent firm as chief executive officer.
From the founder
"Unfortunately, global pandemics don’t slow down the antagonists, the battle of defending against and responding to malicious activity across the digital estate remains constant. To add to the challenge, a new working-from-home-norm has been introduced which increases IT service delivery and business continuity pressures."

Investor perspective
"As early investors in Darktrace, we know a thing or two about identifying great UK cyber security talent. We are excited to be partnering with SOC.OS and working with the UK’s leading defence player and one of our favourite co-investors, Speedinvest, to spin out this unique company."
