Turquoise backs carbon-negative mobility app SKOOT through the Low Carbon Innovation Fund 2.
Share allotment filed at Companies House
SKOOT operates a carbon-negative lift-sharing and mobility application that connects drivers with passengers. The platform plants trees to offset the carbon emissions generated by every journey.
Mobility app company SKOOT has secured £330k in a seed follow-on funding round from Turquoise through its Low Carbon Innovation Fund 2. The capital will support the continued development and scaling of the platform, which facilitates lift sharing and community errands while maintaining a carbon-negative footprint.
Founded in 2019, SKOOT launched its application on iOS and Android platforms in September 2020. The service provides an alternative to traditional taxis by enabling friends and colleagues to share travel costs safely.
From the founder
"We are delighted to be joined by LCIF2 and welcome them on this exciting journey. At SKOOT we ensure all drives taken on the platform are carbon negative by planting a tree for every three journeys. SKOOT connects friends and enables them to help one another, whether by getting them somewhere or collecting something for them, all through an easy-to-use app."

Investor perspective
"We were impressed by the SKOOT team who are already proven entrepreneurs. SKOOT has advantages of safety, cost, environmental impact and regulation compared with taxis. The platform is already built and robust and we see potential for large scale and international expansion of this innovative business."
