SimplyCook provides subscription recipe kits containing ambient flavour components rather than fresh produce. The business operates a hybrid model spanning online subscriptions and physical retail distribution.
SimplyCook has secured £4.5m in a Series A financing round led by Octopus Investments. The business intends to direct the capital toward international expansion, retail working capital, technology upgrades, and sales and marketing initiatives.
The subscription service provides flavour kits and recipe cards rather than perishable ingredients, distinguishing its model from traditional meal kit providers. Alongside its online delivery operations, the company has established a retail presence in physical shops.
The funding aims to support ongoing expansion across the UK and international markets over the next two years.
From the founder
"Whereas fresh food delivery still caters for maybe 0.25-0.5 percent of evening meals in the UK. Flavour already works as a way to get people cooking. Fresh Meal Kits are fairly unproven."
