Rent Chief secures £250k seed investment from Mercia and private backers to launch its platform.
The Birmingham property platform raised £250k from Mercia and private investors to fund commercial rollout and hiring.
Rent Chief is a Birmingham based property management platform that helps investors and landlords automate routine tasks. The software streamlines property operations by sourcing mortgages, insurance and reliable tradespeople.
Rent Chief has raised £250k in a seed funding round from Mercia and private investors. The capital will be deployed to bring the platform to market, fund a sales and marketing push and create five new roles.
The company was founded by serial entrepreneurs Patrick Shuker and Jon Whitmore, who previously built the TrigoldCrystal mortgage services group. Following the investment, Jon Whitmore assumes the role of non executive chairman.
Funding was provided through the Midlands Engine Investment Fund, supported by the MEIF Proof of Concept and Early Stage Fund managed by Mercia.
From the founder
"From our work in the property sector and experience as landlords, we recognised that there was a gap in the market for a platform that could bring together all the different aspects of property investment and management. We are looking forward to the launch of Rent Chief and working with our investors as we continue to develop and enhance the product."

CEO at Rent Chief
Investor perspective
"Patrick and Jon have a strong track record within the financial services and property sectors and Rent Chief has already attracted interest from a number of early adopters. This investment will allow them to complete the software development and put their plans into action."
