The Y Combinator alumni have raised £1.8m from Episode 1, Seedcamp, 7percent Ventures, Y Combinator, and Kima Ventures.
QuestDB develops an open source time series database designed for high performance speed. The team operates globally with staff spread across the US, EU, and South America.
QuestDB has secured £1.8m in a seed funding round led by Episode 1. Additional participation came from Seedcamp, 7percent Ventures, Y Combinator, Kima Ventures, and several unnamed angel investors.
The capital will support the company as it continues to develop its open source time series database and builds out a managed cloud product. The funding follows the startup's participation in the Y Combinator summer 2020 cohort.
The database project originated in 2013 when current CTO Vlad Ilyushchenko sought a high performance solution for financial trading systems. He later joined forces with Nicolas Hourcard and Tancrede Collard to incorporate the business.
From the founder
"We’re building an open source database for time series data, and time series databases are a multi-billion-dollar market because they’re central for financial services, IoT and other enterprise applications. And we basically make it easy to handle explosive amounts of data, and to reduce infrastructure costs massively,"
