The photonics company has raised £12m in a Series A round led by Schlumberger to scale manufacturing of its greenhouse gas imaging technology.
QLM Technology develops quantum-enabled gas imaging cameras to detect and quantify greenhouse gas emissions. The photonics company operates from offices in Cardiff, Bristol, and San Francisco.
Cardiff-based photonics company QLM Technology has secured £12m in a Series A funding round led by Schlumberger. The capital will enable the firm to scale manufacturing operations and lower production costs as it brings its greenhouse gas monitoring technology to market.
The investment coincides with a collaboration agreement integrating QLM's quantum LiDAR technology into the Schlumberger End-to-end Emissions Solutions business. Additional participation in the round came from existing backers including Green Angel Syndicate, Enterprise100 Syndicate, Development Bank of Wales, and Newable Ventures, alongside new investor Quantum Exponential.
QLM has developed a novel gas imaging camera that combines LiDAR and gas absorption spectroscopy to help operators detect, localise, and quantify methane leaks and other emissions. The technology is suited for continuous monitoring across upstream, midstream, and downstream energy facilities, as well as adjacent sectors such as biogas and waste management.
