The oversubscribed financing round was funded entirely by the company's existing investor base.
PlaqueTec is a medical technology company developing intracoronary liquid biopsy techniques to uncover inflammatory drivers of cardiovascular disease. The firm builds proprietary proteomic datasets to support targeted therapeutic development and patient stratification.
Cambridge-based medical technology company PlaqueTec has secured £3.7m in an oversubscribed financing round. The capital was provided entirely by the firm's existing shareholder base.
The proceeds will be directed toward expanding the company's proprietary cardiovascular data lake, known as BioCarta. This repository aggregates intracoronary proteomic and clinical samples gathered through the ongoing BIOPATTERN trial.
PlaqueTec intends to use the resulting insights to offer site-of-disease strategies for pharmaceutical and biotech partners. The platform aims to improve patient stratification and inform targeted drug development programmes for coronary artery disease.
From the founder
"The decision by our existing shareholders to reinvest, and to do so at a level that exceeded our target, speaks directly to their confidence in what PlaqueTec’s data is revealing about cardiovascular disease. We are building something genuinely differentiated: a high-resolution, intracoronary data asset that is poised to underpin the next generation of cardiovascular therapeutics. This round validates that strategy and gives us the runway to prove it."
