Osu secures £2.3m in seed funding led by Creandum to scale its payment app for sole traders
The seed round was led by Creandum to fund further customer growth and product development.
Osu provides a mobile payment application tailored for self-employed professionals, offering instant transactions and invoicing capabilities. The platform aims to eliminate traditional administrative barriers and costs associated with getting paid.
London-based payment application Osu has secured £2.3m in a seed funding round to support its expansion and product development. The investment was led by early-stage specialist Creandum, with participation from several other funds and notable angel investors.
Launched last year, the company provides tools for sole traders to handle invoicing and instant payments without transaction fees. The new capital will be directed towards scaling its customer base and introducing additional business management features.
Additional backers in the round included Ada Ventures, Breega, Firstime, Amelia, and Ulysses. The financing also saw contributions from angel investors including Charles Delingpole, Will Neale, and Michael Pennington.
From the founder
"We know from speaking to our users that one of the biggest challenges they face is the ability to manage their payment-related admin tasks effectively and efficiently, whilst also growing their services and attracting more customers. At a time when the self-employed are already taking a hit due to the pandemic, reducing the cost of getting paid and making the process much faster is becoming increasingly important."
Noam Nevo
CEO at Osu
Investor perspective
"At Creandum, we like to see companies that are not forcing merchants to radically use a different infrastructure but facilitate more, easier, and faster business and hence becoming an obvious choice for customers. Open banking will enable payment disruption for small merchants much like we saw iZettle do that. With Osu, we have found the Swiss Army knife for sole traders and couldn’t be more excited to support the team on their journey to become the No. 1 payment app for the self-employed."
