London-based medtech startup Orthofuse has secured £2.2m in a seed round led by a group of angel investors. The financing also saw participation from ACF Investors, Cambridge Angels, and Empirical Ventures.
The capital will be directed towards technical development, regulatory preparation, and building partnerships ahead of early-stage clinical evaluations. Orthofuse focuses on tackling inefficiencies in complex trauma and spinal surgery through smarter, 3D-printed implant systems.
The company aims to simplify procedures and reduce surgical times by offering hardware that surgeons can adjust or reposition without damaging surrounding tissue.

"The main pain point here is that orthopaedic trauma and spinal degenerative conditions are technically demanding, time-sensitive, and extremely challenging when there is poor bone quality. Current implant systems struggle to comprehensively meet the needs of the patient and the surgeon. The inherent limitations cause prolonged surgical times and increased risks to the patient."
