£74.0MSeries B

Ori Biotech develops advanced manufacturing technology designed to automate and standardise cell and gene therapy production. The firm works to help developers bring treatments to market at scale.

Ori Biotech has secured £74m in a Series B funding round to prepare for the commercial launch of its manufacturing platform. Novalis LifeSciences led the financing, with participation from new backers Puhua Capital and Chimera Abu Dhabi.

Existing investors including Amadeus Capital Partners, Delin Ventures, Northpond Ventures and Octopus Ventures also contributed to the raise. The capital will be deployed to expand personnel across all departments as the company transitions from pre-commercialisation to market introduction.

The firm is rolling out its early access programme to allow select partners to use its full stack system. The technology aims to automate and digitise production to increase throughput and reduce costs for developers.

From the founder

"Our mission as a company is to enable widespread patient access to life saving cell and gene therapies. One of the biggest obstacles to achieving this is cell and gene therapy manufacturing processes that are too expensive, too highly variable and too low throughput. Our team is focused on the urgent need to enhance the ability of cell and gene therapy developers, CDMOs and Academic Medical Centers to deliver these therapies to as many patients as possible as quickly as possible,"
