ORCA Computing builds full-stack photonic quantum computers that operate at room temperature using standard components. The company develops scalable hardware and software systems designed to transform data processing across multiple industries.

ORCA Computing has secured £12.5m in Series A funding to roll out its photonic quantum computing systems and software. The round was led by Octopus Ventures, Oxford Science Enterprises, Quantonation, and Verve Ventures. The capital will enable the company to deploy near-term systems and accelerate the development of its proprietary quantum memory-powered technology.

The London-based start-up uses unique technology that eliminates the need for bulky and expensive cryogenic cooling or vacuum equipment. Instead, the firm relies on standard components such as optical fibre and telecoms switches to deliver compact, rack-mounted quantum computers. Alongside the equity round, the company has also secured project-based funding from Innovate UK.
