Optimise-AI raises £740k in seed funding to expand its building energy management software.
The funding round was led by the Development Bank of Wales alongside Carbon13 and angel investors.
Optimise-AI develops artificial intelligence software to manage energy and carbon emissions in non-domestic buildings.
Cardiff University spin-out Optimise-AI has secured £740k in a seed funding round to commercialise its building energy management software. The investment was led by the Development Bank of Wales with a £300k equity injection, alongside £320k from seven angel investors and £120k from co-investors Carbon13.
Founded in 2023, the company combines digital twin technology, energy modelling, and artificial intelligence to help building managers track operational energy and carbon emissions. The fresh capital will enable the firm to transfer intellectual property from Cardiff University and accelerate commercial operations.
From the founder
"Energy costs have risen over 350% since 2021 and carbon emissions from buildings need to reduce by 50% by 2030 but almost 90% of non-domestic buildings don’t have a building management system. This lack of data is hindering the ability to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions."
Nick Tune
Chief Executive at Optimise-AI
Investor perspective
"Optimise-AI is pushing the boundaries of digital technology in the pursuit of delivering a zero-carbon built environment."
