The round was led by Join Capital with participation from IQ Capital, Northern Gritstone, Seraphim, Episode 1 and Schauenburg Ventures to fund global growth and product development.
Opteran develops machine autonomy software that re-engineers insect brain patterns to provide real-time situational awareness. The company builds lightweight solutions for ground and aerial machines.
Opteran has secured £9.8m in a seed follow-on round led by Join Capital, with participation from IQ Capital, Northern Gritstone, Seraphim, Episode 1 and Schauenburg Ventures. The funding will support the company as it expands into international markets and accelerates product development.
The capital arrives as Opteran commercialises its natural intelligence technology, which mimics biological brain functions to direct autonomous machines. The company plans to open American offices and introduce natural brain decision-making capabilities.
Since launching, the firm has tested its systems with international customers across sectors including mining and robotics. The latest backing will enable further customer pilots and support ongoing research into dynamic learning and image recognition.
