Occuity raises over £1m in seed funding led by Angel Investment Network to advance medical diagnostic devices
The Reading-based healthcare technology company secured the financing over five months to progress product development and clinical trials.
Occuity develops non-invasive optical instruments that use the eye to screen for and monitor chronic conditions. Its diagnostic technology aims to transform healthcare delivery through ocular screening.
Healthcare technology startup Occuity has secured more than £1m in seed investment to support product development and regulatory approval. The funding round was led by Angel Investment Network and was completed over a five-month period.
The capital will enable the firm to advance its non-contact optical devices through clinical trials and towards commercial launch. Occuity focuses on diagnostic tools for optometry as well as broader screening applications for chronic illnesses.
Investor perspective
"Healthcare is one of the areas of biggest interest to our investor database. In the year of a global pandemic this is perhaps no surprise – but this business really did tick all the boxes for our investors. They have patent-protected IP with a product developed by a team with extensive medical experience. They also have a track record of high value medical and technology exits. We look forward to seeing the development of this business and its potential ability to improve the lives of millions of people."
