Neurovalens raises £5.1m in a Series A follow-on round led by IQ Capital to advance medical device approvals
The financing will support clinical trials, product development and team expansion as the business pursues international regulatory approvals.
Neurovalens is a health technology business that develops non-invasive neurostimulation medical devices to treat conditions such as diabetes, insomnia, anxiety and obesity.
Health tech company Neurovalens has secured £5.1m in a Series A follow-on funding round led by IQ Capital to advance medical device approvals for its neurostimulation technology. The financing also saw participation from Wharton Asset Management Company, the Angel CoFund, Techstart Ventures, Co-Fund II managed by Clarendon Fund Managers, and the UK Government's Future Fund. The capital will be directed towards clinical trial research and development alongside team expansion as the company pursues regulatory milestones in the UK, US, and international markets.
The Belfast and San Diego-based firm builds on technology created in collaboration with the University of California San Diego, aiming to influence the brainstem and hypothalamus without implanted electrodes. Having completed initial clinical trials, the business is progressing through FDA and EU regulatory approvals for devices targeting obesity, insomnia, and anxiety, with further trials slated for diabetes.
This latest injection of capital follows a period of rapid scaling since the company was launched. Investors highlighted the potential of the non-invasive approach to transform the treatment of major global health epidemics and establish doctor-prescribed solutions within healthcare systems.
