Nanomox develops sustainable processes for inorganic materials using innovative ionic solvents to reduce environmental impact.

London-based materials company Nanomox has secured £2.4m in a seed funding round blending equity and grants. The financing was co-led by TSP Ventures and Boast Trading LLC, with additional participation from Imperial College Enterprise Fund 3, SNØCAP, the Circular Innovation Fund, EIT RawMaterials, and several UK angel investors.

The capital infusion will enable the company to establish its first commercial pilot plant and research facility, named Catalyst 1, to scale up production capacity and supply cosmetic industry partners. The round also includes support from the Innovate UK Investor Partnership programme.

Founded as a spinout from Imperial College London, Nanomox uses proprietary ionic liquid chemistry to manufacture finely tuned metal oxide particles for applications such as UV protection and electronics, while simultaneously recovering valuable metals from waste sources.

From the founder

"Our unique ionic liquid platform can create nanoparticles tuned for high performance in high-value applications. With the same platform, we can recover valuable raw materials from waste sources and mineral ores,"

Investor perspective

"We are delighted to continue our investment in Nanomox by co-leading this seed round as the company enters an exciting phase of growth. Nanomox is commercialising advanced materials while advancing the core technology to process industrial residues and legacy waste, which represent an underused resource with major economic and environmental value. Nanomox is entering the market with a scalable, low-carbon platform designed to unlock that value by both producing high-performance materials and recovering critical minerals."
