Manchester-based water filtration spin-out Molymem has secured £500.4k in seed funding to scale its operations. The round was led by Cambridge Angels, with participation from Manchester Angels and NorthInvest.
The capital will support the company as it develops and deploys its novel membrane coating technology, which uses modified molybdenum disulphide to improve filtration efficiency while reducing costs. The funding also fosters closer syndication links between northern and eastern angel networks.

"We liked the sustainability aspect of Molymem and the strong management to apply novel technology into a significant market in need of new membranes to deal with the increasing threat of particulate pollution (especially nitrates) in the water course. We therefore wanted to lead a SEED funding round on behalf of Cambridge Angels who were subsequently joined by investors from Manchester Angels and NorthInvest.
