Bristol-based Milbotix has secured £125k in funding from the British Design Fund to support the rollout of its wearable SmartSocks. The company plans to raise additional capital through crowdfunding to unlock public grants and expand its operations.
The startup has designed biometric socks equipped with sensors to help caregivers monitor the physiological state of individuals with dementia who struggle with verbal communication. The technology uses machine learning to identify early signs of distress, allowing carers to intervene proactively.
The fresh capital will be directed towards team expansion, product launch, and further research and development.
