The investment round was led by Evolution Equity Partners with backing from Resonance and Connect Ventures.
Metomic provides a data security platform that helps organisations protect sensitive information across collaborative software applications. The company automates compliance workflows and gives security teams visibility into cloud data usage.
Metomic has secured £17.6m in a Series A funding round led by Evolution Equity Partners, with participation from Resonance and Connect Ventures. The capital will be deployed to support expansion efforts in the United States and drive research and development initiatives. In addition, the firm intends to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities as demand grows for automated security tools within collaborative software networks.
The financing arrives as companies increasingly adopt third-party software applications, often without adequate visibility into where sensitive data is stored. Metomic aims to address this challenge by providing automated workflows that alert employees in real time when confidential information is uploaded incorrectly, reducing the risk of accidental exposure across workplace tools.
From the founder
"Security, IT and compliance teams have no visibility into the data employees are storing and sharing across third-party SaaS applications. They are suffering from alert fatigue and are overwhelmed with the amount of notifications they have to address,"
Rich Vibert
CEO and Co-Founder at Metomic
Investor perspective
"Businesses adopt SaaS applications at a rapid pace. While SaaS tools increase employees’ productivity and enable collaboration among colleagues and partners, IT security teams have limited visibility and control over sensitive data stored within these apps,"
