Marloo builds artificial intelligence technology designed to automate administrative tasks and compliance workflows for financial advisers.
London and Auckland based startup Marloo has secured $2.7m in pre-seed funding led by Blackbird Ventures, with participation from fintech figures including Tom Hambrett and Sam Halse. The capital will be deployed to accelerate product development and expand the company presence in international markets.
Founded by Hardy Michel and Shakeel Lala, Marloo addresses the reliance of UK financial advisers on legacy software by offering automated note-taking, document generation, and client communication tools tailored to individual working styles. The company has experienced rapid monthly growth of 45 percent while scaling its operations across the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Blackbird Ventures partner Samantha Wong cited the team product obsession and rapid execution as key drivers for the investment, comparing their early trajectory to design platform Canva.
From the founder
"Advisers didn’t get into this profession to be buried in paperwork or frustrated by awful software built in the last century. In 2025, advisers deserve technology that is truly AI-first; simple, intuitive solutions that are a pleasure to use. Our goal at Marloo is to empower advisers and their important work by building the number one adviser AI assistant – most loved for its design, simplicity, and ease of use – so they can get back to what matters most: their clients."

Investor perspective
"What makes them exceptional is their product obsession: prioritising a beautiful, intuitive AI-first experience, adopting a global-first mindset, and building a product-led strategy that reminds us of the early days of Canva. Customer and product obsession, and speed of execution are the markers of generational companies, and Marloo has this in spades."
