Marleybones is a British pet food brand that produces shelf-stable, fresh meals for dogs using gentle steam-cooking methods.

Marleybones has secured £900k in a seed funding round led by JamJar Investments, with participation from Active Partners and Animal Health Angels. The company provides shelf-stable fresh dog food designed to combine nutritional benefits with convenience by eliminating the need for refrigeration.

The fresh capital will be deployed to enlarge the company team, scale up online and offline distribution channels, and extend its retail presence following recent listings in Waitrose and Whole Foods Market. The brand has previously achieved £1m in annual sales through its direct-to-consumer platform.

Founded in 2020, Marleybones aims to address common pet feeding frustrations by offering preservative-free meals packaged in eco-friendly cartons. The latest injection of funds supports the founders' ongoing expansion strategy within the pet care sector.

From the founder

"Marleybones is driven by our founding mission of making dogs healthier and happier. This investment will allow us to continue delivering on that promise and caring for more dogs than ever before. Having seen the benefits on my own dog Marley, and the customers we’re lucky enough to serve, we’re excited about what this investment unlocks for our community"

Investor perspective

"We are delighted to support Marleybones at this stage in their journey. We were not only impressed by the product – my fussy geriatric Jack Russell loved it – but also impressed with Mikala and Josephine and their vision for the brand. We believe that the addition of a team of leading vets will ensure that the brand delivers on the technical aspects of nutritional excellence in addition to the outstanding palatability and convenience of the pantry fresh® presentation."
