Lightyear secures £6.2m seed investment led by Mosaic Ventures to launch UK app

Lightyear operates an international investment platform providing access to global markets for retail customers across Europe. The company combines multi currency accounts with fractional share trading and artificial intelligence tools.
Lightyear has secured £6.2m in seed funding to support the launch of its multi-currency investment application in the UK market. The financing round was led by Mosaic Ventures, alongside participation from existing backers Taavet+Sten and Metaplanet, as well as a group of prominent angel investors.
The capital arrives as the fintech startup begins onboarding customers from its 5,000-strong waiting list. Lightyear combines currency accounts with access to global stocks, aiming to eliminate complex fee structures for retail investors across Europe.
This latest injection brings the company's total pre-launch funding to £10m following an earlier pre-seed round. The team plans to use the new resources to drive expansion and scale operations as it prepares for a wider pan-European rollout.
