Legl secures £5m Series A funding led by Octopus Ventures to expand operations
Octopus Ventures led the Series A round, which included participation from existing investors and angel backers.
Legl operates a business-to-business software platform that helps law firms manage digital operations such as client onboarding, compliance and payments. The company addresses the legal services market in the United Kingdom.
The Justice Platform, trading as Legl, has raised £5m in a Series A funding round led by Octopus Ventures. Additional participation came from existing backers Backed, Samaipata and First Round Capital, alongside high-profile angels including Carlos Gonzalez-Cadenas, Al Giles and Hayden Brown. The capital will be deployed to expand the team, develop the product offering, grow the customer base in the domestic market, and initiate international expansion.
Launched just over a year ago, the company already works with more than 100 law firms, including a dozen from the top 200. The platform seeks to streamline administrative tasks and improve client experiences in the legal sector.
From the founder
"Most legal technology focuses on the practice of law. We’re focused on the operations of law – how do law firms, as unique, regulated businesses, run their business better and deliver a better client experience. We saw that there was a huge opportunity to improve client experience, onboarding, KYC and payment in a streamlined, beautiful way that also delivers a lot of business insight to the firm. There’s a huge opportunity here to reduce the friction that happens for law firm clients and create a better business of law."
