London-based Koalaa designs and manufactures soft, lightweight prosthetic arms made from breathable fabric for children and adults.

London-based prosthetic innovator Koalaa has secured £925k in fresh funding to scale its international operations and refine its product range. The investment was led by British Design Fund, with participation from Imperial College Enterprise Fund II contributing £200k.

Founded in 2020, the company produces soft fabric prosthetics equipped with interchangeable tools, aiming to resolve issues of weight and rigidity found in conventional devices. The capital will be directed towards expanding the team domestically and abroad, increasing supply to conflict zones, and partnering with NGOs and clinicians.

The fresh injection of resources follows steady growth for the enterprise, which currently supports nearly 1,000 users worldwide. Leadership intends to leverage the backing to broaden its demographic reach from children to adults and pursue integration with the NHS.
