London startup Karmacist has secured £700k in a pre-seed funding round led by Founders Factory and travel entrepreneur Craig Burkinshaw. Additional backing came from Sir Charlie Mayfield and Matt Knapp. The capital will be deployed primarily towards marketing efforts and raising brand awareness for its range of scientifically formulated wellness products.

The company was established by Tim Samuels and Hélène Bamba, drawing on collaborations with researchers from Harvard and Stanford. Karmacist initially offers four distinct formulations targeting energy, immunity, mood, and stress management using rare and ancient botanicals.

Following this initial capital injection, the founders plan to establish market traction before pursuing a subsequent funding round in the latter half of 2022.

From the founder

"First and foremost we’re going to plough the money into marketing – to not just get Karmacist out there but explain the breakthroughs our Harvard and Stanford scientists have come up with."
