iSIZE raises £4.5m in a Series A round led by Octopus Ventures to scale its video optimisation technology.
Octopus Ventures led the Series A investment, which will help accelerate international expansion and strengthen the technical team.
iSIZE applies deep learning to optimise video streaming and delivery, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of digital video consumption. The London-based company has developed proprietary AI technology that lowers bitrate requirements without compromising visual quality.
London-based deep-tech startup iSIZE has secured £4.5m in a Series A funding round led by Octopus Ventures. The financing also saw participation from existing backers TD Veen and Patrick Pichette. The capital will be deployed to drive commercial traction in the United States and to bolster the firm's technical team and patent portfolio.
The investment arrives as global video streaming reaches record highs, accounting for a substantial share of worldwide carbon emissions. iSIZE provides software that integrates with existing video delivery pipelines to decrease data consumption and energy use while maintaining high definition for viewers.

Investor perspective
"The technology iSIZE has created is pioneering and is already being used by some of the world’s largest companies to reduce the costs and energy used in streaming. Consumer demand for high quality video is only going to increase as our devices are upgraded, so it’s vital that we find new ways to reduce the environmental impact. We are very familiar with this space having been an investor in Magic Pony and Sergio is one of those visionary founders who we believe can build something truly special."
