Notion Capital led the follow-on investment round, backed by existing supporters including M12 and Nationwide.
Hazy develops synthetic data software that removes privacy risks, allowing enterprises to utilise sensitive information securely. The London based firm originally spun out of University College London in 2017.
Hazy has secured £2.7m in seed follow-on funding led by Notion Capital, with participation from existing backers including M12, Albion, Nationwide, and Pentland. The fresh capital will be directed towards expanding the team, broadening product capabilities, and increasing engagement with regulated sectors such as finance.
The raise follows a period of growth for the London-based business, which emerged from University College London three years ago. Hazy specialises in generating synthetic data that mirrors the statistical properties of real datasets while stripping out identifiable information, allowing financial institutions to train models and develop products more securely.
Investor perspective
"We are incredibly excited to be part of this funding round in Hazy. We believe that synthetic data will open a world of opportunities for large enterprises to use their data, extract insights and train their models among others, without compromising their customers’ information."
