Haystack raises £1m in seed funding from Dan Smyth and the Future Fund to expand operations
The seed round was led by Dan Smyth to support geographic expansion and technological development.
Haystack operates a technology recruitment platform that connects developers, data engineers and other professionals directly with employers through a matching algorithm.
Haystack has secured £1m in seed funding to expand its geographic reach and enhance its matching technology. The investment round was led by entrepreneur Dan Smyth, with additional participation from the Government Future Fund scheme.
Launched in late 2020, the Newcastle-based startup provides an alternative approach to technical recruitment by allowing professionals to anonymously browse opportunities and market insights. The capital will support further team growth and geographic expansion as the platform builds on its early traction across the UK.
From the founder
"This is a really exciting time for Haystack. This funding will allow us to continue the incredible growth we’ve seen since we officially launched in November 2020"

Investor perspective
"Hiring technical rockstars is incredibly tough and often they’re not active on the job market. Haystack allows them to anonymously search, uncover and gain insight to their tech landscape."
