GoCardless secures £230m Series G funding led by Permira to scale open banking operations
Permira and BlackRock Private Equity Partners backed the financing round, which values the company at $2.1bn.
GoCardless provides direct bank payment solutions that facilitate recurring and one-off collections for businesses worldwide. The firm operates a global network handling billions in transactions across multiple countries.
GoCardless has secured a Series G funding round of £230m to scale its open banking operations and build out a global bank pay network. The investment values the financial technology company at $2.1bn and grants it unicorn status.
Permira led the financing through its Growth Opportunities fund, joined by new backer BlackRock Private Equity Partners. The capital will support the firm as it expands its footprint in account-to-account payments and pursues international growth.
Alongside the funding, the company announced board changes, bringing in former Klarna executives to bolster its payments expertise. The raise follows a period of growth that has seen the firm expand its transaction volume and secure partnerships with major enterprises.
