Funeral Services raises £110k in seed funding to develop alternative cremation memorials
The oversubscribed round was backed by Beer & Young founder Nick Young.
An operator developing a UK-wide network of modern barrows and columbariums within existing community locations to provide alternative cremation memorial options.
An early-stage funeral services venture has secured £110k in an oversubscribed seed financing round. The capital comes from Nick Young, founder of Beer & Young, who has also joined the company as a director and shareholder.
The newly injected funds will support the company's objective to build a national brand and develop a UK-wide network of modern barrows and columbariums in existing community locations. These sites aim to offer affordable alternatives to conventional, religiously inspired funerals.
The investment follows nearly two years of discussions between the founder and investor regarding the commercialisation of the memorial model.
Investor perspective
"I was first introduced to my now business partner*, JS, almost two years ago. His vision for modern barrows fascinated me – during this period we talked about how to bring such a vision to reality. We believe we have found the right model and management team and I’m delighted to have invested in this round"
