Flomark secures £300k pre-seed investment from British Design Fund and Imperial College Enterprise Fund to advance medical fluid management solutions.
British Design Fund and Imperial College Enterprise Fund back the healthcare startup to launch its first product.
Flomark is a healthcare technology startup based in Chesham that develops sterile, single-use flow meters for monitoring IV drips and fluid balance. The company emerged as a spin-out from the Royal College of Art to improve patient safety and clinical workflows.
Flomark has secured £300k in a pre-seed funding round backed by British Design Fund and Imperial College Enterprise Fund. The company will direct the capital towards launching its debut product later this year, expanding its device pipeline, and conducting further research and development.
The startup develops patented, single-use flow meters designed to integrate with standard gravity IV sets, providing clinicians with clear visual indicators of infusion rates. This technology aims to address historic inaccuracies in fluid balance monitoring and save nursing time on hospital wards.
The enterprise was spun out from the Royal College of Art by founders combining backgrounds in engineering, design, and healthcare. Its backers bring targeted support for early-stage product businesses and university spin-outs.
From the founder
"The idea for our product came from years spent on hospital wards during my career as a design researcher in healthcare. I noticed that gravity infusions were often inaccurate, and fluid balance management was generally poor. This inspired me to dedicate my career to designing solutions that could make a real difference in patient care."
